Neutron star asteroseismology and nuclear saturation parameter

چکیده

Adopting various unified equations of state (EOSs), we examine the quasinormal modes gravitational waves from cold neutron stars. We focus on fundamental ($f$-), 1st pressure ($p_1$-), and spacetime ($w_1$-) modes, derive empirical formulae for frequencies damping rate those modes. With resultant formulae, find that value $\eta$, which is a specific combination nuclear saturation parameters, can be estimated within $\sim 30 \%$ accuracy, if $f$-mode frequency star whose mass known would observed or $f$- $p_1$-mode simultaneously observed, even though this estimation applicable only low-mass Additionally, radius canonical stars few per cent accuracy via simultaneous observations $w_1$-mode frequencies. also that, $f$-, $p_1$-, $2\%$ while $1\%$ with $M\ge 1.6M_\odot$ $0.6\%$ 1.4M_\odot$ constructed EOS constrained GW170817 event. Furthermore, strong correlation between maximum mass, minimum stellar compactness mass.

Probing the equation of state of nuclear matter via neutron star asteroseismology.

We general-relativistically calculate the frequency of fundamental torsional oscillations of neutron star crusts, where we focus on the crystalline properties obtained from macroscopic nuclear models in a way that is dependent on the equation of state of nuclear matter. We find that the calculated frequency is sensitive to the density dependence of the symmetry energy, but almost independent of...

Neutron Star Asteroseismology. Axial Crust Oscillations in the Cowling Approximation

Recent observations of quasi-periodic oscillations in the aftermath of giant flares in soft gamma-ray repeaters suggest a close coupling between the seismic motion of the crust after a major quake and the modes of oscillations in a magnetar. In this paper we consider the purely elastic modes of oscillation in the crust of a neutron star in the relativistic Cowling approximation (disregarding an...

Massive Star Asteroseismology in Action

After highlighting the principle and power of asteroseismology for stellar physics, we briefly emphasize some recent progress in this research for various types of stars. We give an overview of high-precision high duty-cycle space photometry of OB-type stars. Further, we update the overview of seismic estimates of stellar parameters of OB dwarfs, with specific emphasis on convective core oversh...

Diffusive Nuclear Burning in Neutron Star Envelopes

We calculate the rate of hydrogen burning for neutron stars (NSs) with hydrogen atmospheres and an underlying reservoir of nuclei capable of proton capture. This burning occurs in the exponentially suppressed diffusive tail of H that extends to the hotter depths of the envelope where protons are rapidly captured. This process, which we call diffusive nuclear burning (DNB), can change the H abun...

Many-body Theory of Nuclear and Neutron Star Matter

We present results obtained for nuclei, nuclear and neutron star matter, and neutron star structure obtained with the recent Argonne v18 twonucleon and Urbana IX three-nucleon interactions including relativistic boost corrections. These interactions predict that matter will undergo a transition to a spin layered phase with neutral pion condensation. We also consider the possibility of a transit...
